While the package removal above will remove Edge from your computer, it does leave stuff behind. Next, use a system cleaner such as CCleaner to remove registry entries and any orphaned files. The removal process will remove the installer files and remove Edge completely from your Windows 10 computer. The line should read ‘remove-appxpackage Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_44.17763.1.0_neutral_8wekyb3d8bbwe’ or something very similar. Type ‘remove-appxpackage’ and paste the entry from above.Identify the PackageFullName entry and copy the entire line after the ‘:’.Type ‘get-appxpackage *edge*’ into the Power Shell window and hit Enter.Type ‘power’ into the Windows Search box and select Windows PowerShell (x86).Back up any bookmarks you have in Edge that you don’t have elsewhere. You will need to use Windows PowerShell to do it but if you follow these instructions exactly you should be fine. I am sure this could be fixed somehow, but if it is a choice between doing a complete Windows 10 fresh install or leaving Office 2007 lying dormant, I'll choose the latter option, unless I come across problems in the near future. There may be workarounds for these issues, but removing the browser, wiping all traces of it and then downloading a fresh copy can right all those wrongs.Īs Microsoft Edge is built into Windows 10, it isn’t straightforward to remove it, but you can do it. I suspect as you say, that Office 2007 has somehow got tied into Office 365. I have managed to get Office 365 fully working, but Office 2007 is still lying around. So I tried to uninstall Office 2007 which is where the problems arose. However this was not the case as there were file association problems in Word. I was informed by a Microsoft operative that it could be installed alongside 2007 as they use a different install process. I installed Office 365 as a trial to see if I wanted it before buying. Yes, the list does show Office 2007 as being installed and I can select it and choose it before selecting Uninstall - but this does nothing.
